'Deadlift Day for Harry' June 3rd 2023

Wow… what a day! What an event! We had everything and everyone on our side yesterday including the amazing weather. There are so many people to thank from the bottom of our hearts. If you have ever organised a large event, you know what goes into creating something as big as what you saw yesterday. The time taken away from their own personal lives to help make the day run smoothly was so appreciated very much. To be able to hold our Deadlift Day for Harry in the car park of the World Gym facility was a wonderful idea! We were able to have so many more people attend which made the atmosphere so much more electric! It was exciting to be there to watch listen and cheer on all the competitors in both divisions of bench press and deadlift. But first we have to thank those that were there to support us and help bring this spectacular day to life!

To Justin and the team at World Gym Burpengary (particularly Ryland). He not only organised the event including the 5th birthday celebrations but was also doing his normal day to day running of the gym. To the team inside looking after everyone who came through for registration! It was crazy busy! Without Justin and his generosity this day would not happen.

To the gorgeous Courtney from Baked by Courto, this beautiful young lady donates her own time and money to bake her delicious cookies with Harry on them to sell at our events. 100% of everything she does is given to us and we can’t thank her enough 🩷

To Lisa and Sarah at Love Lolly Pet Accessories. Personalised ‘HKP03’ bandannas were made in honour of Harry and these lovely ladies donated the profits of the sales of these to us! Amazing!

To the team at Jimmy Rods Barber, they were on fire up on the deck doing haircuts and beard trims! Every haircut was donated back to us, and these guys continue to be a massive supporter of ours

Evette and her Harry earrings which were a hit! So talented and we thank you 🩷

Brad from Just Signs at Caboolture who generously donates our stickers. Our stickers which we gave away over 2000 ‘HKP03’ bumper stickers yesterday which we want to see on every car in Australia. The community were so kind and were taking handfuls of these to give to family and friends to put on the backs of their cars. A conversation starter around safe driving that needs to be had to all.

To all of our prize sponsors- Thank you

Without your generous donations, our raffles aren’t possible.

Craig from Foodworks at Burpengary for donations of our BBQ! This man is a legend. So kind and community focused. He literally goes out of his way to help anyone. A small business that we will always support.

A massive thank you to our MC of the day, Jason Woodforth. Without your vibe and passionate energy and enthusiasm, the day would have not been the same! And to our photographer, Jeff Anderson, who captured every crucial moment of the day including drone shots! We wouldn’t want anyone else to capture our day. Once again taking time out of your own weekend to make sure we have these moments forever!

To Terry Young, Federal Member for Longman, Councillor Mark Booth from Moreton Bay Council, Sergeant Greg Price from the Burpengary Forensics Crash Team. Thank you all for taking the time to be at our event.

To our family and friends who support us through our tough days. You continue to show up when we need you the most and are our biggest supporters.

This, our third Annual Deadlift Day for Harry was our biggest one yet. The support from everyone far and wide allowed us to raise important funding that will go directly back into supporting families and victims of road/beach trauma. This week began as the two-year anniversary of losing our Harry. What more could we ask for by celebrating and keeping his legacy alive by holding such an amazing day!

With your generous support we were able to raise $9855.58 (updated Monday 5th June)

We surpassed our goal from last year which means we can continue our work of giving back to those who need help in the most difficult of circumstances. Recovering from road trauma. Once again, THANK YOU

And the winners were.

Deadlift (male) Matt Martino- 290kg (female) Kathy Grant- 160kg Bench Press (Tied) (male) Brett Thompson & Gauge O’Connor- 200kg (female) Sabrina Poole- 95kg

Congratulations to everyone who competed and to those who managed PB’s and were able to secure a ‘Harry’ medal.

We can’t wait until next year, we have already started planning, bigger better and more.

We love and miss you Harry, and this was all for you.
